Ingredients
For the sesame honey steak
200g/7oz sirloin steak, sliced
olive oil, for drizzling
salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 tbsp honey
2 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted
For the balsamic reduction
200ml/7fl oz balsamic vinegar
1 tbsp honey
For the Italian roast potatoes
2 tbsp olive oil
6 garlic cloves, crushed
2 sprigs fresh rosemary
½ sweet potato, peeled, cut into small cubes
salt and freshly ground black pepper
Method
1. For the steak, place the steak slices in between two sheets of cling film and flatten out with a meat mallet or rolling pin. Remove the cling film, drizzle the slices with olive oil and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
2. Heat a frying pan until smoking, add the steak and fry for 1-2 minutes on both sides, or until golden-brown and cooked through. Drizzle with honey and sprinkle over the sesame seeds halfway through the cooking time.
3. For the balsamic reduction, pour the balsamic vinegar and honey into a small saucepan and simmer for 8-10 minutes, or until the mixture has reduced to about three tablespoons of liquid.
4. For the roast potatoes, heat the olive oil in a frying pan, add the garlic, rosemary and sweet potato and fry for 5-6 minutes, or until the sweet potato is tender and golden-brown all over. Season well with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
5. To serve, pile the sweet potatoes onto a serving plate, top with the steak and drizzle over the balsamic reduction.
